PEE WEE

  • The Pee Wee Program is a play based program that introduces soccer as a fun sport.
  • The Pee Wee Program is about young kids having fun. The foremost goal is to create a safe and fun play environment using a variety of games being played to make the children at home within the group. Once the children are comfortably enjoying themselves, soccer related games are used that develop soccer skills and soccer knowledge.
  • Our Pee Wee program is intended for players who are 4 years old or who will turn 4 during the session they are signed up for.
  • Pee Wee players should always wear:
  • 1. AYSA provided jersey
  • 2. Shin guards
  • 3. Bring a size 3 soccer ball.
  • 4. Cleats (or "boots" as they are called in soccer) are not necessary.  Sneakers are fine, especially if this is their first time trying the sport.  If they take a liking to it, then you can buy them cleats.
  • Players should always bring plenty of water to keep hydrated.

U6

  • The U6 Program is the next level up from Pee Wees for our younger players.
  • The U6 Program continues with the teaching of soccer skills in a fun, developmental, non-soccer game environment.  The last 15 minutes of each session, will be small 3v3 games without goalies, using small PUG nets.  This will give them a little taste of the game and help prepare them for the next level.

It is important to note that throughout your child's soccer career, ball control and individual skills are the most important parts of their development.  While we all want our kids to "score goals", without the proper training and skill development, they will not be able to be a productive team member.  That is why ALL training sessions, regardless of age, should include work on basic ball control and individual skills.

The Pee Wee and U6 Programs are run by US Soccer-licensed trainers.

  • Players should always wear:  1. shin guards, 2. soccer socks, and 3. bring a size 3 soccer ball, with your name clearly labeled.  Don't spend lots of money on these things as they will quickly outgrow them.  Target or Dick's Sports is a good place to buy shin guards and size 3 ball.  4. Cleats (or "boots" as they are called in soccer) are not necessary.  Sneakers are fine, especially if this is their first time trying the sport.  If they take a liking to it, then you can buy them cleats.  But please note, the ground/grass could be wet from Spring rains, so cleats would be better for traction.
  • Players should always bring plenty of water to keep hydrated.
    • Age groups will be limited to a maximum 18 players per session.  Wait listed players could be offered to train up in age, if spots are available.
    • Age groups are based on Birth Year.
    • Players are not permitted to train or play down in age. (ie. U8-2015 birth year play down to U6-2016)
    • Program will run for 6 weeks (6 sessions)
    • We will do our best to try and reschedule any RAIN OUT cancellations, pending trainer/field availability.
    • All sessions will be run by a local trainer, John Gilroy, and will be clinic based, focusing on skill and ball control development. There will be no teams, uniforms or season games.
    • Each session will consist of 20-25 minutes of skill and technique development and 20-25 minutes of friendly (scrimmage) games.

    • Family Discounts do not apply for the Spring session registration.
